It is May 9th; I am sitting in the South and watching Ron Buskirk, Junior Warden, at the alter making our newest candidate Terry Diskey a Mason. Watching the transformation in the EA degree of a candidate to a brother is a sublime event. There are two parts that a hope we all remember. First is the moment when the WM addresses the candidates for the first time, My Brother, for by the sacred appellation…
Second is when the newly obligated Brother is in the NE corner of the lodge and is told: You there stand, a just and upright Mason, and I give it you strictly in charge to ever walk and act as such.
This is our mission—to expose good men to our fraternity. Have a petition in your pocket, and ask one to become one.
I want to thank all of the brothers that helped with our degree at the Schofield House in Madison, IN. Brother Justin Pose was raised to the sublime degree of a Master Mason by Brother Steve Dooley, Grand Stewart and Tyler. Justin was the 524th Brother Steve has risen to a Master Mason. That is an amazing lifetime accomplishment. I, and the thousands of Brother’s lives that he has touched, say thank you. Our Grand Master, Most Worshipful Greg Walbridge, was Jubelum. There might be a little irony there.
On May 15, Waynedale Lodge had the highest honor in our Lodge’s history, the privilege of opening Grand Lodge. To be part of the history of Indiana Masonry and have your lodge Brother serve as Grand Master is a great honor.
Gregg, thank you for sharing your business skill, leadership, vision, and Brotherly Love with our fraternity. Masonry in the state of Indiana is in a much better place because of your service and sacrifice. Well done my good and faithful servant. All of your Waynedale Brothers are very proud of you.
We had a successful Karen’s Kitchen Donut Sale and our monthly dinner of smoked ham and scalloped potatoes was well attended.
Waynedale will raise Brother Tobias Bradley on June 2nd with Wayne Lodge #23. The Master Mason degree will be at the Old Fort in Fort Wayne. Dinner starts at 6:00pm and the outdoor degree will start at 7:00. The Brothers of Wayne Lodge do an excellent job with this degree. Please plan to attend, you will be impressed.
June 2nd is also our next Lodge Breakfast from 6-10 am.
I ask you to join us in celebrating St. John the Baptist Day on June 24th. There will be a special church service at Trinity Episcopal Church at 611 West Berry St., Fort Wayne at 10 am. Many of our Brothers will be participating in the service. Feel free to wear your apron, jewels, and any of your Masonic regalia.
Our annual golf outing is just around the corner. Tee off is at 8 am, August 11th, at Donald Ross Golf Club. This is a perfect opportunity to expose men to our fraternity. Put together a foursome and help make this a wonderful outing. For reservations or information, call the lodge or Ron Buskirk at 260-413-1953.
We are all part of the greatest fraternity on earth. Be proud of it. People notice how we meet, act, and part. Remember when we were told, I give it you strictly in charge to ever walk and act as such.

Waynedale just completed a fantastic year! The highlight was
having Brother Greg Walbridge elected to Grand Master of Masons
for Indiana and Waynedale Brother Carey Carter appointed as
Junior Grand Deacon for the state of Indiana. There were also
many examples of a brother going the extra mile to come to the
aid and assistance of another Brother. The values of masonry were well affirmed in 2011 and I hope to see it continue in 2012.
Grand Master Greg Walbridge was the installer for our installation. The 2012 officers are as follow: Rudy Mahara, WM, Paul Walters SW, Ron Buskirk JW, Ray Sipe Treasurer, Bob Bier Secretary, Joe Baker SD, Roger Lane JD, Dominic Hamblin SS, Al Brothers II JS, Bob Burge Tyler, and Jerry Jarvis Chaplin.
Waynedale has high expectations for 2012. We will continue to have our monthly breakfasts on the first Saturday of the month from 6-10 am. We will also continue our monthly dinners on the third Saturday of the month from 4-7 pm. We plan to involve a higher percentage of our Brothers with the Lodge. We will develop a good masonic education and mentorship program.
We are prepared to answer the Grand Mason’s challenge to ask every Brother to turn in three petitions to the Lodge. This increased focus on finding good men to become Masons will bring a large number of new Masonic Brothers to Waynedale. We are committed to developing a 5 year master plan for the Lodge. Also, we will be producing and distributing a complete membership directory to all Brothers of Waynedale.
The future looks bright. There is no limit to how much we can accomplish if everybody helps a little and no one cares where the credit goes. The following poem, written by Ron Hasse, has formed my definition of the Fraternity:
My God My Brother My Self The Three
Together we have what you can’t see The bond that’s formed shall always be
I will not be holding degree practice this week due to work conflicts. I also understand that there are some very long days and evenings later in the week with the Shrine Circus for a few folks, and don't want to add one more even to the calendar for you all.

I will be looking to hand out a break down of the lodge membership roster to each of you at the stated meeting in February. I challenge each of you to make an effort to reach out to your portion of that list once a month at least, and try to encourage more activity and involvement in the lodge by members that otherwise do not participate. Your help in offering them a helping hand, informing them of the upcoming activities, or just checking to see how they are will go a long way in building fellowship. For alot of these members the only communication they may get from us is a dues bill, and the Square and Compass. We can and should do better then that.

We have been asked to be the host lodge for the upcoming one day class on March 26th. We will also be performing the Fellow Craft degree. We need to all be prepared and available to open, close, and perform the degree in its entirety to include the lectures. Due to the early time frame in the year for this degree, all of the officers will serve in their installed positions for all of our required portion. This means that I will serve in the East, Rudy in the West, Paul in the South and so on.

The elected officers have had degree practice the last two weeks and are progressing well. I would like to see all of the officer line at both the EA and FC practice's next month. We will then be holding a Fellow Craft practice on the 23rd of February in preparation for the one day class.

Please note that we will have a busy kitchen three weeks in a row next month. The monthly breakfast on the 5th will need some help due to both Tom and Don being out of town on vacation. The next week will be the infamous Karen's Kitchen Donuts on the 12th, and following that on the 19th will be a Spaghetti dinner. Please come out and offer some support, either in the kitchen or just buy bringing your family out to eat at the lodge.

One additional event I would like to advertise, and challenge all of the officer line to be in attendance, is the Job's meeting on the 15th. This is their semi-annual meeting to honor their Masonic Family. We will all be "assigned" a girl and will sit next to them through out their meeting. It is a fun night and certainly something everyone should see. The youth are our future, and it is our responsibility to offer all the support we can.

If you have any questions or concerns for me, please don't hesitate to reach out and touch base. I am almost always available, whether its by email, text, or phone, and if you don't get ahold of me right away leave a message and I will get back to you as soon as I can.

Firm in the Faith of the Fraternity,

Matthew McClelland
WM, Waynedale #739
